The World Scholar's Cup Primary round was held at Nord Anglia school on 12th December. JPS year 6 children did us proud by performing brilliantly, winning medals and trophies in all categories, from quizzing, debating and the writing challenge. While we wait for the official certificates and summary of all achievements here is just a highlight of some of the winners. We were declared the top 3 teams in the writing category, the top three teams in the debating category, the Top debater for the primary round was also from JPS. Last week, JPS children participated in a Computing Competition organized at JESS Jumeirah. The children worked enthusiastically to create their own game on apps like Hopscotch and Code - a - Game. They also created an e-book complete with instructions on how to play their game on Create a Book. Well done to Saif Shariff, Nayel Waqas, Elliott Quinn, Azlan Shah, Aritro Chatterjee, Adam Jawed, Ayan Shariff and Ayaan Ehsan for excellent team work. Our fabulous JPS team qualified for the semi finals and got the opportunity to attend the event at the Ice Rink in Dubai Mall. The grand stage, a large audience, the glitter and glamour of being in a mall did not faze our stars who waited patiently for the event to start, and then performed brilliantly. A special thank you to parents who showed their support and encouragement by bringing children to the event on a Friday. Congratulations and well done to all our teams. Year 3 - Kabir, Serah, Nazaria, Armaan and Rizin Year 4 - Ranbir, Ryka, Rayan, Yoshinobu, Annika Year 5 - Qasim, Sreya, Prittika, AliJawad, Zain Year 6 - Alexandra, Ayan, Ayyan, Ameen, Omar 12 children from Year six learnt 1500 words to participate in the first round of the Spelling Bee Competition. The children spelt words like perdition, hazardous and symphony amongst others to test their memory and on the spot answering skills. A special congratulations to Oscar Dilworth, Omar El Touky, Laila El Deeb and Veer Chowdry who have made it to the semi finals that will be held in Jaunuary at Curtin University.
As part of the mini enrichment league, last week 8 children from year 5 and 6 participated in a music and drama workshop organized by Jebel Ali School.
The children were involved in various activities culminating in a stage performance at the end of the day. Well done to all the children for their enthusiasm in learning and participating. Today our JPS children displayed excellent team building skills, when they worked together in teams of five, answering a wide variety of general knowledge questions. Teams from year 3,4,5 and 6 successfully managed to beat the opposite team to qualify for the quarter finals of the Kidzania Brainiacs Competition. Well done to all the following children who participated today.
Year 3 - Kabir,Serah, Nazaria, Benjamin and Armaan Year 4- Ranbir, Ryka, Syed Rayan, Yoshinobu and Annika Year 5 - Qasim, Sreya, Prittika, AliJawad and Zain Year 6 - Alexandra, Ayan, Ayaan, Ameen and Omar Yesterday 10 children from year 5 and year 6 attended a Gifted and Talented competition organized by and held at Dubai College. The children were split in teams of 5, and were set tasks in science, drama, sports and philanthropy. They loved creating an advert using props, playing Tchoukball, testing reactivity of metals and creating a mood board. Well done to Ayan Shariff, Alexandra Hide, Carlos Halawi, Oscar Dilworth, Olivia Sell, Aritro Chatterjee, Rio Halawi, Zain Carimjee, Nael Clague and Yaseen Ayoub for accessing each task with enthusiasm and showing excellent team work.
This week, two teams from year 3 and year 4, participated in a Science competition that was held at DESS. The children had a fun day designing a catapult, making a bouncy ball and playing a Kahoot quiz. The air buzzed with discussions on the science behind each activity. There were 19 teams in total, from many schools across Dubai. Our year 4 team came first. Big congratulations to Anya Ehsan, Benjamin Macdougall, Aahana Sen, Vihaan Desai, Elyes Mrabet, Nicolas Olymbios, Joshua Garvey and Ryka Gehi for being excellent team players.
